Our Story

Owner, Claudia Lopez is a San Jose native and graduate of San Jose High School, class of 1995. She became the owner of The Tamale Factory (formerly Lucy’s Tamale Factory™) at nineteen years old and has owned it ever since!

Over the years, The Tamale Factory has become a San Jose landmark thanks to the continued patronage of the community. However, we must truly take a moment to thank our staff for their commitment to serving the community and keeping our menu traditional. We are a Latina-owned and Latina-ran business.

Our traditional Mexican tamales and unique tamale have won us numerous awards and recognition across the bay area. Knowing that our business and success is made possible by the community, Claudia makes sure to give back by fundraising for local schools and participating in local events when possible.
